Ports of Call

To continue the saga of our family vacation, we boarded the Carnival Imagination for a four-day cruise. We left Miami at about sunset on a Monday and arrived Tuesday morning about 7:00 a.m. at Key West. We chose not to join any of the Carnival excursions, but bought our own tickets for a hop-on hop-off tour of the town. Because our time was limited, this tour seemed like the best way to see the most sights quickly. We got off at stop six and walked back toward the main square, stopping to see some things along the way. This quick port visit left us wanting more, so the Florida Keys is now moved up on our list of destinations to visit.

Leaving Key West at 1:30 p.m., we sailed into Cozumel at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  I had been to the Mayan Riviera several years ago, but the other three had never been to Mexico before.

My husband and our youngest daughter are considering auditioning for The Amazing Race Canada as a sequel to their climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2011 to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis. With this audition in mind, the Amazing Cozumel Race seemed like the best shore excursion for us. You can read more about our experience on Trip Advisor as FLWfans at: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g150809-d1868981-r151833287-The_Amazing_Cozumel_Race-Cozumel_Yucatan_Peninsula.html

Amazing Cozumel Race

I will probably blog about our impressions of cruising in a later post. I’m glad we went when we did, given the problems the Carnival Tiumph is having this week: http://triblive.com/usworld/nation/3467599-74/ship-cruise-mexico#axzz2KhD37UzE. I would not want to be waiting to embark on a cruise with this report in the back of my mind.
